New Sample Album: Kiss Meeeeee

When I got back from California I had two huge boxes waiting for me. One was a new book - Platon's Rebpulic - by portrait photographer Platon, the other had my new sample album from Kiss Books :-)

Enough blathering, here are the photos.

Kiss Books come in 7 color options (more on that in a second), for my sample, I chose Voluptuous Black and it looks well, f'n sweet.

Other color options include Smouldering Brown, Sultry Blue, Forbidden Green, Redlight Red, Virgin White and Passion Pink.

My sample is 12x12, but I will also be offering a 10x10 Kiss Book.

With Kiss Books the photos are the pages - no sticky glue holding 4x6's in place like your parents' wedding albums - well, at least like my parents' album.

Here's a look at some of the pages - check out the full bleed (aka they print all the way to the edge).

Also, one of the super cool reasons I decided to go with Kiss for my albums - take a look at how seamless the print is over the, well, seam.

Scott & Cecelia: Wedding Teaser

I just got back from a great wedding with Scott and Cecelia and wanted to share two quick portraits from today. While I love everything about shooting weddings, it's when I get a chance to spend a few minutes with the bride and groom for some more formal portraits that I get the most excited. Many, many more to come from today, but I was just itching to share these two before I headed out for the night.

And extra thanks to Tony for tagging along and shooting with me. The father of the bride said to us at one point, "It's amazing how well you guys work together - you seem just to know when to get out of the way." (He said that right after he saw Tony ducking behind Scott and Cecelia as I was lining up a shot.)

Aziza & Imad: Married

When my good friends Tony & Anna over at Team Yu asked me to join them for Aziza and Imad's celebration, the day after New Year's, I jumped at the chance. Lesseee (as Joe would say), Indian wedding? Never been to one. Great couple? Check. Nearly 400 guests? That's what I call a party!

Critique Night!

So last night, BS (Before Snow), I headed over to MKD's for Critique Night. The idea was that a group of photographers could get together, show a bunch of images and get constructive feedback.

I was a little unsure of how it might go, but was certainly interested in seeing it play out. Kate said that her and Mike used to do this regularly in an art class they took in college and it worked out fairly well. Well I'd say last night worked out more than fairly well! Not only did I get some great ideas and insight into how other photographers work, compose and see images, I got a few fun snaps of my own.

It's always interesting to me to talk about creativity. It's one of those things that I know how my brain works, but the fascinating part is hearing other people talk about how they think through the creative process when they're looking through the lens. (And to hear that most people are right eyed. I mean, really? I never gave it much thought, and I knew right eyers existed, but when I pick up a camera, viewfinder meet left eye. It just makes sense.)

Angel & Chris: Married

Just a quick post here before I head to bed for the night. I just got back from three days in NYC and had a blast with my new camera and lens, I just haven't had a chance to get to any of the images yet.

In the meantime, please enjoy these photos from Angel & Chris's wedding a few weeks back. I shot Angle & Chris with Rob at Luciano's on Lake Pearl in Wrentham, and we had a great time. Chris and Angel were great with putting up with us photo geeking with the foliage as the temperature just kept dropping. Thanks so much guys, I had a blast.

Rachel & Jeff: Married

A few weeks back I headed down to the Cape with Rob for Rachel and Jeff's wedding. Rachel and Jeff are triathletes (they did the Iron-Man in Austria this year!), and rented an entire summer camp for their wedding (how cool is that! they slept in the bunks!)











I have to give Rob credit for this next shot, he saw it and started waving at me frantically to take the shot - thankfully my brain caught up with his British gyrations quickly enough :-)

David & Laura: Married

I love all the weddings I shoot. Because, well, I'm a sucker for romance. That said, David & Laura's wedding in Topsfield might be the most fun one of the year. Why? I mean, how can you go wrong with WHIFFLE BALL!?

When I pulled up to David's house at noon, the first thing the guys said to me was, "Let's go play Whiffle Ball!" (Well you don't have to ask ME twice).

Megan & Mike: Married

Megan and Mike were married in Alton, NH and held their reception at the Wolfeboro Inn beside Lake Winnipesaukee. Rob and I had an early wakeup call for this one, that included him backing into my car at 5 a.m. (what is it with me, weddings and cars this year?)

The above photo was the scene when we first pulled up outside Megan's parents' house - we ran to shoot the mist before it was gone, before we even said good morning!

Megan and Mike couldn't have been more fun - the entire time Megan kept introducing us to her friends as, "My good friends Rob and Doug."

Brooke & Mike: Married

Brooke and Mike were married in early September in Ipswich. I shot with Rob, and you know how your mother always told you not to be on time, but to be early? This wedding was a great example of why you need to plan on being early for things.

Just when I got off of the highway, less than 5 miles from Turner Hill Country Club, I ran over a six-inch steel nail. Now who leaves STEEL NAILS in the road? Well, Ipswichians, that's who.

So there I was, in my shirt and tie, on my hands and knees changing my tire. I changed it in less than 15 minutes (can you say NASCAR pit crew?) and was only 15 minutes late to the wedding. Now I say I was 15 minutes late, but in reality, I was 15 minutes later than I'd anticipated, which was still 15 minutes before the bride. Didja follow all that? OK, good.

This wedding was one of the most enjoyable I have yet attended - Rob and I couldn't get over how much fun everyone was having.

Matt & Amanda: Married

Matt and Amanda were married one very, very, VERY wet and rainy Friday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire a few weeks back. (You remember, the weekend it started raining Thursday and didn't stop until Sunday). Well, that didn't stop these two, even after they had to move their ceremony from Rye Beach to a function room at the Sheraton.

I shot with Gwyn, and she hung out with the girls before the show started while I kicked it with da boys.

No, I can't explain this first photo. Matt can't explain this. It just was.




It took a little YouTube help, but everyone got their ties tied.




They rented a Bentley from the '50s ('56 I think) - it was way cool - even if it didn't have a defroster.






Then it was time for a few quick portraits before the ceremony.
