Carolyn & Mike: Engaged

A few weeks back I shot Carolyn, Mike and Dancia's family session, so a few days after that when Carolyn e-mailed asking if I'd do their engagement photos as well, of course I said yes.

Now this first photo is clearly not Carolyn, or Mike, but Danica. On the way back from our shoot we stopped at DQ for some ice cream and Carolyn picked up this cone for DT, as they call her. As soon as she put the cone in DT's hands, it didn't stand a chance.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming, errr engagement photos.

We headed over to Brockton's DW Field Park for the shoot. I live in nearby in Sharon, but had only been to the park once, it turned out to be a great location.

Becca & Jerry

Sunday, after I shot Kessa with Tony and those crazy kids over at MKD,
I met up with Becca and Jerry in the North End for some portraits.

This might all make more sense if I start at the beginning. Hmmm, where exactly would that be, because, well, I've known Becca since I was in the sixth grade. (I have a photo of us "slow" dancing at a bar mitzvah with our arms fully extended, you remember that, right?)

Well a few years ago Becca met Jerry, and Becca, you know I loved you before, but I love you even more now. Jerry really just lights up her life, and I think you can tell by the photos. (OK, maybe some of that light is from my flash, but you get the picture). Becca and Jerry were married over Columbus Day weekend, and I wanted to give them a more personalized present than something you can buy at Crate & Barrel, so after some of the wedding chaos cooled off, they were kind enough to put up with me and my camera for a few hours.

Congrats again guys, I had a blast at the wedding and a wicked good time Sunday.

And yeah, I know, I'm a blogaholic this week. (Four posts in two days? Who do I think I am?)

Jon & Vanessa - Married

You might remember Jon & Vanessa from last fall, when I shot their engagement photos in the FREEZING, might I add. I went to high school with Jon, where I routinely trounced him on the golf course (that's not true, OK, well, sorta true).

They were married this summer, and because of my baseball career, I missed the wedding (I think I'm up to six on that list, by the way). So if you want me at your wedding don't get married during the season!

We had to hold off on our shoot by a week because of last weekend's torrential, horrible, sideways rain - and it almost rained yesterday - but things worked out yesterday, and we didn't even miss the entire Patriots game (Jon's main concern, not that I can say I blame him).

Vanessa really wanted some more photos of her in her dress (who am I to so no to that? I'm all for brides getting the most out of dresses that they're only going to wear once.) We headed over to Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island (where Jon proposed), for some photos of Vanessa in my trunk. Huh? What? Read on.

Doug: Vanessa, how would you feel about climbing in my trunk?
Vanessa: Um, you have some weird ideas, but sure! (I'm such a sweet talker).

Jon's a golfer (and high school golf coach), and when I told him to bring his clubs he said, "Not a problem, they're always in the trunk."

Alex & Maria

Yesterday I shot Alex and Maria in downtown Boston with Tony & Anna Yu. . Can you believe Alex and Maria have only known each other for a couple of months now? They were married two weeks ago and wanted to do some more fun portraits downtown so they called their good friend Tony.

I asked Tony and Anna to shoot with me next weekend in Rhode Island, so when Tony called and asked me to shoot with them yesterday I jumped at the chance. Any time I get to work with different people and see how they work is a chance to learn, so I was all for it. Anyway, enough already, on to the images:

My favorite image - I love happy accidents. Of course after this shot I waited and waited for another runner to come by, but they were all too polite and ran around us

I Love My Clients

I just got this e-mail from Charlie and Stacia - see, I told you they were the best! Seriously though, e-mails like this make my day.

"Wow Doug! I can't believe you got these up so fast!! They are awesome.

What a great job! Thank you so much for working so hard on these for us. I can't stop watching all the slideshows!!!!

Charlie and I will certainly be getting together and picking a bunch out to order.

Thanks so much again.

Stacia & Charlie

PS-
I've already shown them to my sister and mom and they are both raving about how much they "LOVE THEM."

Great job!"

Charlie & Stacia

I just wanted to get one photo up from today's great e-session with Charlie and Stacia. They were so great and we had a blast bouncing around downtown. I'll post the whole slide show when I finish up with the images later this week, but I had to get this one up - it may be my favorite. Save that date!

I shot these photos of Tessa & Hamo just before sunset on Tuesday afternoon along the Charles River in Cambridge. It was so easy because they were so comfortable in front of the camera. I shot them all with my D200 and 70-200 VR (it's only September, but this lens is looking like the purchase of the year so far). To see more from the shoot, amble on over to my Flickr page here.
