Color Correction and The Man from Mars

See, I told you I was going back to Kelby Training for some learning. Here is two versions of the same image of some random ugly guy, taken by Shyla last weekend in Portland. The first image is straight out of the camera (JPEG), the second is after I applied Dan Margulis's "Man from Mars Method" in Photoshop.

I read Dan's book last summer, but the online videos really bring his training to life. The process is fairly complex, but I will say that it involves the use of LAB mode and channels in Photoshop to really make your colors pop. It's definitely something I see myself using as a part of my workflow going forward to improve the color in my images.
