The End (But in a fun way) - dougblogs.com

After a little over two years of blogging on this site, I've decided it was time to pack up and move on. Why? Well, check out the new blog to see all of its awesomeness. But in a nutshell, I'm moving on because I wanted a more customizable blog, a blog that I feel better meshes with my web site, and a blog that gives me more. More? Yeah, you know, the opposite of less. (Sorry, couldn't help myself, terrible humor).

Nah, more in the sense of video (to come soon, sweeeet!), a dedicated album page, a page with free stuff!, and well, just better awesomeness all around.

It will look a bit familiar, as I was able to import all the posts from this blog, but it's something you just have to see for yourself. Enough rambling on my part, go check it out www.dougblogs.com is live!

New York: Staatsburg Portraits

Jess and I just got back from a weekend in Staatsburg, New York (where? Yeah, that was me last week - but it's basically south of Albany, 90 min. or so from NYC), where we got to see some of my family and shoot some photos.

Despite the fact that it rained Saturday, getting a chance to spend some real time with cousins I see once a year or so is always a good thing.

That's Zachary above, and we definitely took advantage of being stuck inside to make a few pictures.

For the next photo I just told him to sit and look at the light (I wish it was always this easy.)

A few minutes later he made the connection between the button on my Pocketwizards and the "big flash into the umbrella."

Sunday, being the ever-trusting photographer that I am, I let Zachary play with my camera a bit.

Now, this not might have been the brightest idea I've ever had...but the good news is when you're 2.5' tall, the camera doesn't exactly have far to fall (but he didn't drop it).

OK, less talking, more photos.

Sunday we even saw the sun, so we got outside for a bit before heading back to Boston.

New Sample Album: Kiss Meeeeee

When I got back from California I had two huge boxes waiting for me. One was a new book - Platon's Rebpulic - by portrait photographer Platon, the other had my new sample album from Kiss Books :-)

Enough blathering, here are the photos.

Kiss Books come in 7 color options (more on that in a second), for my sample, I chose Voluptuous Black and it looks well, f'n sweet.

Other color options include Smouldering Brown, Sultry Blue, Forbidden Green, Redlight Red, Virgin White and Passion Pink.

My sample is 12x12, but I will also be offering a 10x10 Kiss Book.

With Kiss Books the photos are the pages - no sticky glue holding 4x6's in place like your parents' wedding albums - well, at least like my parents' album.

Here's a look at some of the pages - check out the full bleed (aka they print all the way to the edge).

Also, one of the super cool reasons I decided to go with Kiss for my albums - take a look at how seamless the print is over the, well, seam.

That's all for now, I'm off to critique night at MKD Photography's place...as always, more tk.
